A tryst with the Carribean

I didn't know how beautiful the Carribeaan sea looked like until I lay my eyes on Walt Disney's Pirates of the Carribean : "Dead Man's Chest" and the "Curse of the Black Pearl" . Chanced to see the second one first and the first one second and comparitively found the first one better overall.

The sequel's first half is interesting. Jack Sparrow's; sorry "Capt." Jack Sparrow's encounter with a beastly tribal clan is totally hilarious. But the second half drags on with cliched fight sequences and an overdose of green and slimy underwater creatures that makes one feel little yucky. Finally after a long 30/40 mins of focus on the grey-green sea depths, when the camera is zoomed on to the deep blue sea, does one almost feel a whiff of fresh sea wind on the face and a welcome change of surroundings.

Keira Knightley is as prim and proper with a sharp wit and tongue. Her performance surely reminds one of her similar acting in Pride and Prejudice. Beyond doubts it is Jack Sparrow who not only steals the attention of the audience but also manages to distract the herione's attention from Orlando Bloom for a while. Johnny Depp befits the role of the captain of the pirate ship. The way he manages to wriggle out of hopelessly impossible situations is great fun to watch. The sequel ends with a fierce fight between a giant squid on the verge of gobbling Jack Sparrow and with a loose promise of his return in the next one.

Overall a good watch and i will definitely look forward to the next adventure of the pirates with yet another mystery .
